EXPLORATORY ENRICHMENT at M2M3

Are you having trouble writing a narrative?  Do you want to learn more about photography?  Is Math not making sense to you?  Wouldn’t you love to have an hour of silent reading? Are linear equations confusing you?  Do you want to be a part of the yearbook staff?  Are you so disorganized that you can’t find a blank piece of notebook paper?  Do you want to be in a competition?    If you answered YES to any of these questions, then, Exploratory Enrichment is for YOU!

This year at M2M3, we have built in time for enrichment and remediation during the school day.  All students will have the opportunity to sign up for an EE course each quarter.  Students who were not successful on the EOG or who are struggling in their current courses will be automatically assigned a remediation class. Progress will be evaluated every quarter to determine if a student is ready to opt out to an enrichment class.

This 8th period block is the last 90 minutes of the day on Wednesdays and Fridays. Students will receive a Pass/Fail grade for the class period.  All school rules and policies, including attendance, tardies and behavior will be followed.  Remediation classes will be grade level specific; however, enrichment classes may cross over grade levels in some cases.

Most enrichment classes will last 9 weeks; however there are some that will be semester/year long due to the curriculum or structure of that class. For the more popular classes, students will only be able to take that class one quarter.

Some of the enrichment courses we might offer this year are:

DEAR, Guided Study, Battle of the Books, Science Olympiad
Writers/Poetry Workshop, Tar heels Junior Historians
Junior Naturalists, Junior Curators, North Carolina Quiz Bowl
History Day Project, Odyssey of the Mind, Photography
Yearbook, Math Counts, A Taste of Carolina, Visual Arts – Muralists, Student Government, Numbers, Literary Magazine
Mock Newberry, Team Sports, Peer Tutoring
